Kisawa Sanctuary

Mozambique

Kisawa means "unbreakable", which defines their commitment to build a bond between people and place, life and land. This extraordinary resort offers the perfect combination of modern ultra-lux accommodations and amenities (the actual structure was built with a unique, patented 3D printing technology).

LOCATION: Southern tip of Benguerra Island in Mozambique, 9 miles from the mainland.

SETTING: Kisawa is a 740-acre sanctuary of forest, beach and sand dunes. It is part of the Bazaruto Archipelago, and the neighboring WWF National Marine Park is home to some of the richest and least explored subtropical ecosystems in the Indian Ocean.

ACCOMMODATION: Twelve exquisite one, two, and three-bedroom bungalows. Each residence has one-acre of private land, including a private beach. They also have their own open-air deck, infinity pool, outdoor day area and kitchen, as well as a dedicated electric Mini Mokes vehicle. Interiors are just as beautiful as the pristine nature surrounding each bungalow as skilled artisans from Benguerra Island were enlisted to continue the concepts of inclusive design.

HIGHLIGHTS: Exclusivity and absolute privacy combining with sophisticated luxury, wellness options and meaningful conservation (BCSS Ocean Observatory).

WELLNESS: The Natural Wellness Center offers body treatments to center and heal, and leads to the yoga and Pilates dome, fully equipped and air-conditioned gym, and 25-meter pool.

ACTIVITIES: Kisawa offers different levels of PADI certified private and group diving experiences, snorkels, bodyboards and paddle boards. You can also canoe through a thriving mangrove ecosystem, spot dugongs and dolphins on a sailing outing, boat to Flamingo Beach to observe the pink beauties, help tag marlin and sharks with the BCSS scientists, and more. If you’re more land based, go for a hike with the resident nature guide to discover 150+ bird species.

CHILD POLICY:  Families are welcome at Kisawa and a range of children’s activities can be arranged to suit individual guest needs. From mini camping and rock fishing, to an afternoon of arts and crafts, to pizza-making classes, the Kisawa team is excited to inspire the next generation

GETTING THERE: The nearest airport is Vilanculos (VNX) with daily commercial flights from Johannesburg (JNB) and Maputo (MPT). Private travel arrangement can also be made through VistaJet and XO. Personalised helicopter charters from Vilanculos Airport to the sanctuary can be organised by the Kisawa team, with a flight time of approximately 5-10 minutes, or a transfer to Kisawa from Vilanculos by private boat (Axopar 37) is typically 35 minutes.

OPEN: Year round.
