LOCATION: Semliki Safari Lodge is situated in the Semliki Wildlife Reserve in the heart of the Albertine Rift Valley. It's the oldest protected area in Uganda.

SETTING: The reserve is dramatically bordered by the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains and Lake Albert, far off-the-beaten-track in lush wilderness.

ACCOMMODATION: Seven spacious tents under thatch roofs and featuring en-suite bathrooms with running water, hot showers, and flush toilets. Two large safari suites have separate sitting areas and romantic outdoor bathtubs. All have secluded views of the savannah and forest. 

HIGHLIGHTS: Semliki is a bird lover’s paradise with more than 425 species at home here. Mammals include Ugandan kob, chimpanzee, colobus monkey, elephant (forest and savannah elephants coexist in the reserve and produce offspring), buffalo, and more. Shoebills are regularly seen during boat trips on Lake Albert. There is a unique dry habitat chimpanzee community living in the forest and surrounding savannah where guests can interact with chimpanzee researchers.

ACTIVITIES: Included activities are morning and evening game drives, along with walking safaris. Visiting the chimpanzee research project (normally accompanied with a forest trek in the research area), boat excursions on Lake Albert, and day excursions to Semliki National Park can also be arranged.

CHILD POLICY: Children of all ages are welcome.

GETTING THERE: Regular scheduled flights from Entebbe or other Ugandan destinations fly into Semliki Airstrip (very near to the lodge). Flying circuits in Uganda makes for easy combinations with Kidepo Valley, Murchison, Bwindi, Queen Elizabeth, and others. Charters can easily be arranged as well. Semliki is approximately six hours by road from Kampala and 1.5 hours from Fort Portal.
