The otherworldly beauty of Namoroka Tsingy showcases Madagascar's diverse natural heritage, captivating adventurers and nature enthusiasts alike.

LOCATION: Far south of Madagascar in a drier area with unique spiny and gallery forest.

SETTING: On bank of the Mandrare River, with sweeping views over the river and beyond.

ACCOMMODATION: Six safari-style tents with hand carved furniture. Each tent has a private terrace with chairs and table, a 4-poster bed with mosquito net, wardrobe and dressing table, 24hr solar lighting, hot water and a fully plumbed en-suite bathroom with solid walls. Very similar to tented accommodations in Southern and Eastern Africa's safari regions.

HIGHLIGHTS: Madagascar offers a bounty of unique plant and animal life for you to discover. 95% of the species in Madagascar are endemic to the island. There are five different species of lemur that you can see during your stay at Mandrare River Camp, Ringtails, Verraux's Sifaka, White-foot Sportive, Grey Mouse and Grey Brown Mouse. The spiny forest and river habitat is also home to many interesting and different bird species. Experienced guides will introduce you to this wonder world.

ACTIVITIES: Days are loosely structured in a similar way as at many Southern and Eastern Africa's safari lodges. Excellent guides take guests on morning, afternoon and night walks in the Spiny or Gallery Forests observing lemurs and other wildlife. Visits to sacred forests with interesting ancestral graves, strolls through colorful markets, community visits (even the odd local wrestling tournament), sundowners among the Baobabs and tribal performances at night all add to full days of varied experiences. Guests determine their own level of activity.

CHILD POLICY: Children under 4 stay free. Children under 16 at 50% of adult rate. For 2 children under 16yrs staying in their own room, the first child pays the adult rate and the second child stays for free. For 3 children under 16yrs staying in their own room, the first 2 children pay 75% of the adult rate and the third child stays for free. Children’s activities are free of charge.

GETTING THERE: Charter flights from Antananarivo or around Madagascar are the most reliable and preferred way to get there. Alternatively, clients can arrive any day of the week using the (far less reliable) Air Madagascar daily schedule service to Fort Dauphin. Manadrare River Camp is roughly a 3hrs 30 mins drive from Fort Dauphin.

OPEN: March 25 to Jan 9. Closed Jan 10 to March 24.
