HIGHLIGHTS: Friendly engaging staff looks after every detail, from getting guests ready to trek or massaging their feet afterwards, to sumptuous fresh food served in various settings, excellent cocktails and wine list, pampering massages, dances showcasing local cultures and walking access to school and community projects supported by Amakoro.
ACTIVITIES: Gorilla trekking is the undisputed highlight, followed by trekking to see Golden Monkeys, a visit to the Cindy Broder Conservation Gallery and various other attractions like Homespun Hope, a distillery, etc. Guided community walks to a school and women's co-op can be done from Amakoro.
CHILD POLICY: Children ages 12 years and above are considered adults. Children 12 years and below may book our rollaway bed at a fixed net rate. Children aged 3 years and under may stay at the lodge free of charge. However, they must be accompanied by a nanny if left unattended. Nanny services are available upon request at an additional cost.
GETTING THERE: 30 min helicopter flight from Kigali, or a ca. 3hr drive from Kigali. Driving to/from Nyungwe Forest National Park area is around 6 hours along an incredibly scenic route with stunning views of Lake Kivu. Similarly to/from Akagera National Park in the East.
