LOCATION: Steps from the Ngorongoro Crater Rim, conveniently close to the descent and ascent roads.

SETTING: The closest lodge to the park entrance, Laba Ngorongoro Lodge offers sweeping views of the surrounding lush forest and the maJestic Oldeani and Makarot mountains. Lots of resident wildlife.

ACCOMMODATION:  18 Deluxe Rooms, as well as one Family Suite. Added comfort from underfloor heating and A/C. Bed linen, bathrobes and bathroom amenities are all organic.

HIGHLIGHTS: Great location and stylish, unique design elements creates a comfortable cozy haven in what is often a somewhat chilly and cloudy area (at 2,200 m or 7,200 ft elevation).

ACTIVITIES:  Game drives are conducted in a private 4x4 with a private guide. Our electric Toyota Land Cruisers operate with near-silent, low-impact performance, enabling close wildlife observation. 

• Two safari game drives per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon

• ... or one full-day private game drive (with picnic lunch)

One of the game drives includes the descent into the crater. The route crosses open plains, marshes, acacia woodlands, and lake shores where lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, hyenas, hippos, and a wide variety of birds gather.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES:

•  Half-day walking safari along the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, offering spectacular views
  (from 12 years old)

• Full day at Lake Manyara (with picnic) an immersion in wild nature with a great diversity of ecosystems - dense forests, grasslands, and wetlands. The region is known for its tree-climbing lions and large elephant herds. Lake Manyara is also a maJor bird sanctuary, home to more than 400 species, including many waterbirds and migratory species.

• Olduvai Gorge - half-day or full day (with picnic) if combined with the Shifting Sand Dunes Olduvai, one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world, and the enigmatic Shifting Sands, a dune of volcanic ash that moves across the desert at a rate of about 17 metres per year

• Visit to a Maasai village (half-day)

CHILD POLICY:  Minimum age is 3 years, Child is from 6 to 15. Adult is of or above 16. 

• Young children from 3 to 6 years old: free of charge 

• 2 adults (full adult rate) + 1 child free of charge in the same suite 

• 1 adult (full adult rate) + 1 child (50% of full adult rate) in the same suite 

• From 16 years plus, 1 guest on his own in a room is permitted: full adult rate & conditions apply 

• One adult (of or above 16 years) with one or two other children in the same room: adult rate, 2nd & 3rd child: child rate applies. Max 3 children per room 

GETTING THERE: Fly-in guests will be collected by vehicle at Lake Manyara Airstrip, which is about an hour drive from the lodge.
